1950s Sports & GT Cars for Sale
FISCAR suitable cars noted for sale. No recommendations are made; our attention has been drawn to them but we cannot say that they fully comply with our regs, or are still available. However, they are certainly worth checking out if you are in the market for an appropriate FISCAR entry.

1959 Elva-Climax MkIV
Original 1098cc FWA-engined sports racer. Rare car, 1 of only 30 built, very early chassis number. Fully restored in 1990s and raced in California then imported by Hall & Hall in 2009. Same UK ownership since 2010. Engine built and maintained by David Whitehurst Racing. Previous outings in Stirling Moss Trophy, HSCC Griffiths Haig Trophy, FISCAR and GT & Sports Car Cup. Regular Goodwood competitor (2017 and 2024 Madgwick Cup at Revival, 2022 Robert Brooks Trophy at 78MM). Donington 1.28, GW 1.41. HTP valid until end 2027. Prepared by and available to view at TTP. £70k Contact : kepplestone@btinternet.com
This is a classic and rare FISCAR FLIER which Rod, who has decided to hang up his helmet in favour of golf, has run with us on occasion some years ago. Since it has the FWA engine, it is FISCAR compliant and potentially a front running car. I also happen to know that Rod is asking quite a lot less than he paid for it. JT - 05/07/2024

1949 Connaught L2
Frank Lugg, now in his late eighties and without access to the internet, has written to me to advertise his Connaught L2.
One of only 6 Connaught L2s built, this is MPH 995, chassis no 1358, the ex Mike Oliver Team Car which Oliver drove in a few events in 1950. It was subsequently campaigned by Stanley Boshier and H M Sinclair, and in the latter’s hands it won a scratch race for up to 2 litre cars at Silverstone in September 1952.
Frank tells me that it has been in his ownership since 1965. It has both full width and aero screens, has a spare close ratio gearbox and block, and is to original spec. The car was road tested by ‘Bill’ Boddy in the March 1951 issue of Motor Sport under an article entitled ‘Emphasis on Sports Cars’ which is available online but only, I suspect, to Motor Sport subscribers. It is also mentioned in Graham Rabagliati’s excellent book on the History of Connaughts, entitled ‘From Send to Syracuse’ which also contains a number of photos of this particular car.
Frank is asking for £95,000 or offer (considerably less than its sister car mentioned further down the page) and can be contacted on 01245 4710016 to discuss. The car is in Chelmsford, Essex.

The JCX Alfa has now been sold as a complete project, so let’s hope it gets completed and we see it out. In the meantime, Brian Arculus has drawn my attention to the sale by auction, of Peter Swete’s TR3 which ran with us many years ago in Peter’s hands but more recently with Ben Norfolk driving. This is an ideal car for FISCAR and probably one of the more financially accessible ways of entering into 50s sports car races! JT - 04/08/2023
A project started by the late Ryan Hodges (see News page) and an absolutely first class sports car for FISCAR. I had several exchanges with Ryan about this car back in 2019/2020 and he was clearly trying to restore it to originality with the intention of running it with us. Must be worth a really good look for anyone wanting run a unique and pretty 1950s sports car with what could be a fairly low initial outlay. JT - 07/06/2023

Wishful thinking on my part but this lovely Le Mans spec DB2 Lightweight would be a superb addition to FISCAR grids.

I’ve come across this Turner 950S, at The Motor Shed Ltd. It would need checking for compliance but visually seems all OK and at £28k probably one of the cheaper ways of getting into FISCAR races. Hit button below for details:-

Spotted in the November (2021!) Issue of Motorsport is a car which would look great on a FISCAR grid and no doubt suitable for higher profile events. Given it’s rarity £135k doesn’t seem outrageous:-

I have come across number of cars recently that may be very suitable for FISCAR, an AC Ace Bristol & the famous Tojeiro MG - LOY 501 from Theisen. Also, Ivan Dutton Ltd has a very interesting 1949 Lea Francis F2 car which can be converted to a sports car (and looks a lot better in that form!). Please click on the buttons:-

HWM 1 For sale
This fabulous HWM Jaguar is for sale, and whilst it is not eligible for our usual Inter-Marque races, it is eligible for our Tom Cole Trophy race and would be welcome, I’m sure, at many of the top classic events which hold races for the 1950s sports racers. It actually ran with us a couple of times when we ran the George Abecassis Trophy race, a few years back - 20/05/2020
Pendine currently (as at 01/08/2020) have a Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica and an Allard J2 for sale. Both from 1950 and both appear to have racing histories:-

One of our earliest race supporters was Chris Guest in his 1954 RGS Atalanta. This had a 2.6 litre Aston Martin DB2/4 engine fitted from its inception which I understand it retains to this day. Chris has not quite hung up his helmet yet, still doing the occasional event in his vintage Bentley, but has not campaigned the RGS for at least 3 seasons and has now decided to sell this splendid car through Tom Hardman’s site, click on box below:-
RGS ATALANTA NOW SOLD AND GONE TO HOLLAND
(Updated 09/07/2020)
I also note that Tom also has a lovely 1955 Lotus VIII for sale. This would be a welcome ‘FLIER’ to our grids:-
LOTUS NOW SOLD (04/04/2020)

A few years back Brian Arculus raced this 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Zagato SVZ with us but since he also had the Lotus Elite and the Lotus IX, he decided that the Alfa was probably one too many FISCAR compliant cars in his possession and it is up for sale. This pretty little car went well in Brian’s hands and would again be a lovely addition to our FISCAR grid.
